Information for foregners students
The Oceanographic Institute of
University of São Paulo, Brazil (IO-USP - http://www.io.usp.br/)
is one of the biggest Oceanographic Institution in
Brazil and owns the most important oceanographic
research vessels in Brazil: Alpha Crucis and Alpha
Delphini. The USP maintains the largest arrays of
paleomagnetic and rock magnetic instrumentation in South
America diluted between the Institute of Astronomy,
Geophysics and Climatology (IAG-USP), IO-USP and
Institute of Geosciences (IGc-USP). The LabGEO has a state-of-the-art facility
to study magnetism and mineralogy of marine sediments
and a series of instruments and software for geophysical
and geological analyses.
Doctorate positions are for a period of 3-4 years and a completed Master in a related field is required prior to appointment. Basic knowledge of English and Portuguese language is required for registration (at least Intermediate level in CELPE-BRAS exam).
